Summary

The stern Comanche warriors once ruled the southern plains of North America. Their territory stretched from southeast Colorado to southwest Oklahoma and western Texas. They were fierce warriors and nomads, having commanded a large area of land at one time. The Comanches were formed relatively recently for an indigenous group, when they broke away from the Shoshoni Indians around the year 1700. The main food source for the Comanche Indians was the buffalo that was abundant on the plains, as well as edible plants that grew wherever the tribe camped.
